Mykaela Worthem is a classically trained saxophonist from Metro-Detroit, Michigan. She recently graduated from the College of Saint Rose with a bachelor’s degree in Music Industry and spent the past four years in Albany, New York gaining experience in leadership, recording, and music business.

Although she has been playing the saxophone for over a decade, Mykaela first started taking private lessons for the alto saxophone when she moved to New York to attend college in 2019. The majority of her previous experience came from playing in her school’s classical and marching bands. At college, she studied several classical pieces by composers like Alexander Glazunov, Lawson Lunde, Paule Maurice, and Phil Woods. Mykaela expanded her musical knowledge outside of classical into more contemporary genres on the saxophone like Latin and R&B during her second half of college. She gained experience in jazz improvisation and techniques through ensembles and classes. Along with Gospel, R&B, and Soul, Jazz became a new source of inspiration for her.
